We’re Back!!!!…. Starting Wednesday @LuLuAndMom will kick off a new set of Braids for the new school year! Today we are heading to 1st Grade Open House and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to Braid a fun style. With all today’s hype she is calling this one… the Solar Eclipse Braid! #backtoschool#backtoschoolhair #hairstyles#Hairstylesforgirls #Hairstylesforkids#Braids #braidsfordays #braidsforgirls#braidsforschool #schoolhair #weareback#summersover #firstgrader#indianolaindians #purpleandgold 💜💛 #anewbraidaday #solareclipse #eclipse#eclipse2017 #solareclipse2017#ibraidthemshenamesthem #luluandmom

After a summer off from the Braids it was time to get our hands back into hair! Over those few short, hot months, Lu-Bug took an interest in looking at other braiders & their styles. She would screen shot her favorites and believe me… we were inspired by many!!
On this particular day, Lucy experience 2 major events for the first time in her life: a Total Solar Eclipse… and 1st Grade Orientation. As a 6 year old, both events are pretty extreme. I of course ended up being the mom who failed to find Eclipse Glasses before the big moment. No biggie, we ended up making our own Cereal Box projectors. Awe… thank you Google for all the great “old school arts & crafts” articles for those last minute parents.
Maybe it’s just me & my crazy OCD/paranoid thoughts BUT please tell me there were other mothers out there fearing that walking outside alone would burn their child’s eye retinas. 😂 In all honestly, I probably procrastinated on the glasses only because I figured I would just let her sleep through it. No chance of any eye damage if their sleeping… right? In the end, I did wake her up and we watched the Eclipse from our Cheerio boxes.

After all the Eclipse & eye burning scares, it was time to prepare for 1st Grade Orientation. This little 6 year old’s next BIG EVENT that day! Oh my… all she wanted to do was get there and see who her classmates were. Being that this was a “school” day, we decided to bust out our first braid of the 2017-2018 school year!

We really did not plan for this to be an Eclipse braid. In all honestly, there never really is a plan… unless its for theme days [& we LOVE theme days!]😂
As usual, I started braiding and after one look at the final picture she said “Mom this looks like the Escalips….” The what, what? “The escalips we watched”… OH, the Eclipse! I couldn’t agree with her more. It was a perfect braid for the day’s hype!
